The calendar above shows my availability. After coordinating a date with opposing counsel, select the date and complete and submit the reservation request form. Once submitted, you will receive an email memorializing the date you requested if it is still available.
Please note that some dates that appear unavailable on the calendar are possibly being held for other cases and thus may actually be available, so if there are no dates on the calendar that work for all parties, please inquire and we will work with you to establish if any other dates are available.
During the reservation request process, you also have the option to add the event to your calendar (Google and Outlook), which will default to a mediation conference start time of 8:30 a.m.
My office will then send you a confirmation letter memorializing the date, time, location, rates, and other information, at which time the date you selected will be confirmed. We will also send a calendar invite for the time, date, and location chosen by the parties. If mediation will be by Zoom, the calendar invite will also have the login link and credentials.
ZOOM -- We are pleased to offer our services via Zoom or in-person. In addition to the benefits from clients being able to avoid travel expenses and time away from the office, mediation by Zoom allows the client to be in a more comfortable environment, which can lead to reduced anxiety and thus better decision-making during what is often a stressful event. Mediation via Zoom also offers the benefits of increased safety and reduced chances for interaction with the other side, which in certain cases may be important.
Our experience since the start of COVID shows that cases settle at about the same rate, whether mediation is via Zoom or in-person, and surveys of mediators who participate in national mediation organizations often report the same conclusions.
Different judges have different policies on allowing mediation via Zoom, so be sure to check with your judge (including in the case management order, if any) to determine whether mediation via Zoom is an option, and if so, whether a motion must be filed requesting approval by the court.
See above for more information on reserving a date to mediate by Zoom.
IN-PERSON -- For in-person mediations, the offices of counsel are preferred, but in those cases where that is not an option, we are happy to arrange to mediate at a neutral location for no extra charge. Please note that we do not offer mediation at our Sheldon Road office, so be sure to check our confirmation letter and calendar invite to be sure of the location.
